Singer Castle on Dark Island is located on the St. Lawrence Seaway, 1 mile from Chippewa Bay in the Thousand Islands in northern New York. Designed by renowned beaux arts architect Ernest Flagg, after reading the book Woodstock by Sir Walter Scott, the castle is complete with a 5-story clock tower, turret dungeon, and secret passageways. The Castle, originally called the Towers, was built by Commodore Frederick G. Bourne as a “hunting lodge” for his family and was completed in 1905. Commodore Bourne was a financier, yachtsman, clubman, family man, and the 4th President of Singer Sewing Machine.
