Greetings Friend,

I am pleased to take this opportunity to let you know about my most recent artistic endeavor -"The Lighthouse Series." This is a project that has been near to my heart.

I've always been fascinated with lighthouses and the stories that surround them - tales of shipwrecks, rescues, romance and hauntings. Architecturally, I've found that lighthouses are amazingly diverse, each with its own unique design and setting.

And, although American lighthouses have been around since the 1700s, many have fallen into disrepair in recent years, or are automated and are thus subjected to vandalism and storm damage.

As a tribute to these remarkable structures and the lives saved by their existence, I've decided to draw a series of 30 lighthouses.

This limited edition print series features 18 lighthouses from the Great Lakes Region, six from the east coast and six from the west coast and possibly more if the interest continues to grow. My hope is that the series will raise public awareness about lighthouses and prevent them from becoming extinct.

I selected the 30 lighthouses represented in my series because they convey a powerful sense of place - some located in stunningly beautiful remote areas and others anchored securely in the hearts of the communities they serve.

Those of you who are familiar with my work know that I use a pen and ink process known as stippling or pointillism, in the artistic tradition of French artist Georges Pierre Seurat. I think my straightforward, black and white style compliments the lighthouse structures, rendering images of simplicity, security and steadfastness.

For me, working on The Lighthouse Series has been an incredible experience. It's been both a supreme challenge and a delight.
