Portland Head Lighthouse is located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Construction of the lighthouse began in 1790 with the tower standing 72 feet tall. President George Washington appointed Captain Joseph Greenleaf as its' first keeper. The lighthouse in the distance is the Ram Island Ledge Light.
