Michigan Island Lighthouses.The lighthouses are located on Michigan Island of the Apostle Islands near the city of Bayfield, Wisconsin. The small rough stone lighthouse was constructed in 1857. It was discovered that this lighthouse was supposed to have been built on Long Island. The light was closed after one year of service when the error was discovered. Fifty years later, a 112-foot cylinder steel tower was brought to the island from it's original location at Schooner's Ledge on the Delaware River near Philadelphia.
