Cape Hatteras Lighthouse by Randall J. Peterson

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in America and is located on the famous Outer Banks of North Carolina near the city of Buxton. The lighthouse was built in 1869. The lighthouse stands 225 feet tall. the signal is visible for 20 miles. during the American Civil War, the original lighthouse was attacked by both Union and Confederate forces. Over the years, three different Cape Hatteras Lighthouses have existed.
