Cape Lookout Lighthouse by Randall J. Peterson

Cape Lookout Lighthouse is located on the south end of the Core Banks and is part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore, near the city of Beaufort, North Carolina. The lighthouse was built in 1859. The unusual diamond design was added in 1873 to make it a better daymark. The lighthouse stands 160 feet tall.
